Powershell makes use of regular expressions in several ways. The regex language is a powerful shorthand for describing patterns. ![]() If you're going to match on those parens, they'll need to be escaped, and the double-single quoting is adding single quotes to the regex that must also be matched. Regular expressions (regex) match and parse text. The expression w+ matches as many word characters as possible and must match at least one. The leading carat from the regex, it should match (the matched string will be at the end of the line, and satisfy the end-of-line ($) anchor).Įdit - I just noticed that trailing ). The regular expression does not match tokenFALSE in NEWtokenFALSE because b makes the regular expression match token only at the beginning of a word. ![]() That carat (^) at the beginning of your regex and the $ at the end are specifying that the matched text must start at the beginning of the line, and go all the way to the end, so it will not match if there is any other text in the line.
